Reach Truck
A reach truck is utilized to pile up pallets of goods, supplies, and to keep storage places tidy. The reach truck comes in quite a few models: the double-deep reach, straddle reach and the stand-up reach.
The simplest kind is the stand-up. The truck forks slide underneath the pallet and move it to the correct storage location. The forks slide the pallet into position. This particular type of reach truck is recommended when shelving units are only one pallet in depth.
Best for workplaces where the shelving units are deep enough to have two pallets of goods, the double-deep reach truck, that is like the stand-up, is commonly used. This version has telescopic forks intended to put the pallet at the back of the shelving unit. This eliminates the need to push the pallet back when one more pallet should go into the same shelving section.
The added advantage of straddle reaches is that they can both slide under the pallet and grasp the sides too. These are recommended for workplaces where shelving units can be accessed in multiple directions. This version is best in conditions where goods will not be damaged if the pallet sides are grabbed.
Often more than one kind of reach truck is required within warehouses. Textile firms and manufacturing facilities use various kinds of reach trucks in their supply areas. The reach truck is not difficult to utilize and can increase productivity while maximizing available storage space.
