Used Eagle Picher Rough Terrain Forklifts Gilbert

Rough terrain forklifts are ideal for many outdoor construction and loading requirements. Usually, rough terrain forklift models are utilized to lift objects such as steel beams, lumber, bricks, concrete and other heavy stuff.

A rough terrain lift truck is different form a typical lift truck in 2 main ways: they use thick treaded, inflatable tires to allow operators to drive them over loose or uneven terrain and they use internal combustion engines for their power source.

The rough terrain lift truck must be a rugged and strong machinery, with a lot of 4 wheel drive units being able to handle many tons of material. These machinery are calibrated carefully in order to provide a counterbalance at the back of the lift. This counterbalance is what prevents the load from making the lift tip forward. Certain rough terrain models provide 4-wheel drive and 4-wheel steering. Most rough terrain lift trucks utilize a hydraulic system which is responsible for raising and lowering the forks.

The rough terrain unit is almost exclusively powered by an internal combustion engine. These engines offer more power, greater speeds and superior acceleration over the electric engine. There are a variety of different IC engines which run on different other types of fuels. For example, some of the most frequent fuel choices for these models include CNG or compressed natural gas, gasoline, LP or liquid propane and diesel. Diesel is the most frequent fuel choice and it is also the cheapest, however, it is not as commonly found as gas. One of the key advantages of the internal combustion or IC engines is that they greatly decrease refueling time.

The tire choice on a rough terrain lift truck is an extremely important factor. With the right tires, rough terrain lift trucks are capable of riding over uneven ground because of the traction provided by the tires. There are certain rough terrain lift trucks which enable people to drive these machinery over rocks, wood, ice, snow and mud, virtually transforming them into an unstoppable equipment. The majority of these tires are similar to typical tires found on cars and trucks and are filled with air, however, certain units are made out of solid rubber.

A rough terrain forklift is a great addition to any construction site. These kinds of equipment enable operators to transport thousands of tons of material over hazardous and uneven ground.
